LOCK HAVEN — The long anticipated bowling tournament between Haven Place and Lock Haven Rehabilitation and Senior Living has finally taken place.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, this tournament took place annually.

Their last tournament was held in June of 2019, and now residents and employees alike are excited to bring back the tradition.

The two teams — the Senior Strikers (LHRSL) and the UPMC Strikers (Haven Place) — queued up and took turns pushing a rubber bowling ball down a ramp towards a crowd of pins at the other end of the room.

There was one strike from resident Bob Shady — his teammates all cheered him while Eminem’s “The Real Slim Shady” played.

Lock Haven Rehabilitation and Senior Living Recreational Therapy Director Trisha Severino lamented the hiatus of this fan-favorite event.

“Donna (Walizer) contacted me and we decided to put it together again. COVID took away our awesomeness, and now we’re back! We love it,” Severino said.

Many of the residents were vocal about their excitement and praise for their teammates, but one man stood out among the rest.

Ricky Wensel got the crowd fired up with his infectious laughs and rousing cheers.
